Went back home for a week and back offshore. Still onboard the rig now due to quaranine requirements. Itching for a few rides when back home.

This time rig made a tow journey across the South China sea (520 nautical miles or 963 km). Tow speed was 4.6 knots or 8.5 km/h  :001:) Some pics for your enjoyment...

Have a great weekend  :002:

Ashore and had some time to go around Miri (Sarawak). Went to the Lambir national park (about 30 km from Miri) - https://sarawaktourism.com/attraction/lambir-hills-national-park/. Had last visited this place 10 years ago and the jungle remains serene and peaceful. The trek is 4.6 km long. Pity was them beautiful waterfalls were barricaded to visitors. Had planned for a swim.

Took a 90 km drive out of Miri to Gua Niah (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niah_National_Park). Brilliant, like being on another planet.

Short across the riverboat ride. This river still has crocs around.

Had planned to go all the way to the end of the cave to see pre-historic man cave drawing. Alone walking about 300 m in pitch black with a torchlight, I turn back. Felt hair stand up behind my neck and not a good feeling.

Unfortunately, the museum was closed for renovation. Would have been good to see some artifacts.

Rented a scooter this morning for sightseeing.

First when to the Grand old lady of Miri - https://sarawaktourism.com/attraction/canada-hill/ - The 1st oil well in Malaysia in 1910. Beside her, was the Petroleum museum. Tells a lot of the oil production history of this place and her offshore locations.

Saw some nice temples along the way.

Just got back after some night riding

More food

Went to the Miri crocodile farm (2000 crocs) and mini zoo.

The roads here are pretty good and scenic

Rode up about 30 km to the Malaysia - Brunei border checkpoint (which is closed).
