V1K in U.S. part 2
« on: January 27, 2015, 10:23:28 PM »
I went to my dealer this morning and picked up my saddle bags and hand guards.  I like doing things myself, so I put the large box in my Jeep and took it home to assemble.  The saddle bags come with two matching color (colour) pieces that you screw and stick on.  You get two brackets that attach to your passenger foot pegs which holds the bottom front of your bags.  And in order to make your ignition key work in the bags, they give you two bare lock cores with color (colour) coded tumblers and springs for you to assemble.  The illustrated instructions provided make it easy to assemble your key cores. (It just takes a little time)  Included in the saddle bag box were the hand guards.  Again, easy to follow instructions.  The saddle bags also come with safety and warnings stickers that I chose not to stick on.  Like, max load weight 11 lbs. (5 KG) per box and don't ride faster than 80 MPH (130km/h).    Sad to say, Kawasaki has not sent the 2015 accessory catalogue to the dealers yet, so they were unable to order the rear top box, nor any of the other accessories.  Anyway,  the bags and guards are on.   They work and look good.  Time to go riding.

Allants - The bike looks great! I think I will get one. Oh wait I already did! lol. I have my bags and guards on as well. I would have the dealer do some research. When I purchased the bike, the dealer made a call and ordered the top case and the aux plug that day. They are shipping in 4-6 weeks. The Top case is not cheap but I think it will look great. I went over the 550 miles mark today. I love the bike. It supposed to rain this weekend so might not get to ride it for a few days.

Let me know about the top case.. Ride safe!

Why Yes, you have a really good lookin' bike there too. :002:  I will have to ask my dealer tomorrow about what you just told me and see if he can get that top case on order.  While at the bike show, I saw the Kawi price for the top case.  $663.   I hope my dealer will give me 15% off.  But agreed, the color matching top case will look good.  I've only got 120 miles on mine,  I just don't have the gear for winter riding yet.

I wanted to buy a Versys 1000 in Bangkok, but didn't want to pay the 650,000 baht ($20,300).  So all I had was a little 2011 Ninja 250 which I sold when I left July 2012.  But the little Ninja was great for BKK traffic.  I also had a 2009 Ninja 250 while I lived in Jakarta.   But this Versys is just a dream machine.  I need to order some "BIKERS" accessories from BKK.  Some of the parts for the Versys 650 and Z1000 will fit my V1K.

in Malaysia, the new V1K gen 2 should be around 22k USD. Phew... :151: Yeah, the V1K is also versatile on some parts from it's younger sibling.  :123A:

Good report and cool pics too

Don't worry about riding your V1K in the rain, it's what we Brits have to do most of the time anyway   :152:
