Thanks for the follow up Tom.
Doesn't sound so bad, just probably should leave beer out of the equation until we reach the final drying process  :celebrate: :123A:

Your original post said you bought the Burnt Orange paint kit that was around $130.
I'm having trouble finding that one.

I'm looking here: http://www.colorrite.com/product/kawasaki-17l-candy-orange-1526.cfm

I tried using the search on the left and it just gives a Flat Super Black and Metallic Spark Black (no Burnt Orange)
so went a different route and ended up at the link above.  Looks like possibly the "Aerosol Complete Repair Package" and add in the base #1175 might do the trick?

sorry to pester...

Caleab,  The link you posted is the same one I used.  And correct about having to purchase separate the 1175 Base color.    It was $80 for the main kit, $34 for the Base, and I think they charge shipping which brought it up to around $130.

For all those who like me had a MK1 fitted with the OE Kawasaki/Givi top box, and have now moved on to a MK2.  The top plate for the MK1 box, and the box itself fits straight onto the MK2 If you had a white bike, and the new one is the same colour you are fit to go with colour matched kit :152:.  If like me your MK2 is a different colour, in my case Orange, just buy the top case cover from the 013 model MK1 which is exactly the same colour as our 015 MK2.  In fact ALL three colours of the earlier bikes top case cover can still be bought.  :152:

They are £92 plus change, as oddly i was looking into getting one for my E47 topbox today. I find it strange it fits the Mk.2 as they are different boxes, the new one being a V47 box but stranger things have happened at sea...  :2:

I think I have to concur with this I can't see the panel off my Mk1 box fitting the V47 box, I guess it depends whether you were supplied monolock or monokey boxes to start with.  The OE monolock base plate might fit the new rails then the box would go on.  I still haven't fitted my SR4105 monokey plate but then I haven't replaced my old E52 yet either... liking the new V56 replacement a lot though well smart  :028:

I read Geoff's post slightly differently, I understand he has taken the box and mounting plate from a MK1 and fitted it to a MK2, then obtained the coloured top for a 013 model MK1 as Candy Orange is available to match his 2015 Candy Orange  :notsure:

Thought I'd covered that  :187: " The OE monolock base plate might fit the new rails then the box would go on."  anyway he'll be along to confirm either way  :36:

Understand now, even so, £92 is still a bit much for a bit of plastic, be it painted or otherwise

I agree Kryton...however the cost of a painted replacement panel is cheaper than the cost involved in getting an existing panel repainted, paint costs alone being very high then you would have to have it professionally  sprayed  :002:
