I finally decided to remove the side cover.

Seems to be a simple 4mm bullet connector, male+female.

Cheers

I think I’m probably looking for the same “spare connector”. Hunted all over the side cover but no joy - any chance you could post a pic of what you found under the side cover? Was it difficult to remove?  Only  got mine today so don’t want to be damaging it yet!!

I’m sorry guys, I didn’t realize that he doesn’t have Kawasaki specific as when I was looking for connectors for Honda st.
The correct connectors that fit in left side and under steering (led and heated grips) connectors are: Sumitomo HM 090. I always buy both males and females in case I need to add a connnection to keep them the same as much as possible.

How to find it :

1- follow steps 1 and 2 of my "how to", only on left side of course. This way you will get access to the connector.

2- The connector is hidden : it is completely wrapped under several layers of black adhesive tape, and attached to a big bunch of other wires. Just cut carefully the tape to remove it and release the connector.  Pictures after :

Cheers

MLC - if yours is a 2015 it is in a similar location as the pictures, but I believe it is a 2 pin Sumitomo HM090 connector. You remove the side panel with 1 screw on the top (the one that is painted and says Kawasaki), then pull the panel away from the bike. Other than the screw it is held on by rubber grommets and locating tabs at the front. The connector/position is shown on Page 83 of your owners manual.

It might also help you to refer to Garshman's fairing removal post for the MK2 if applicable.

Just realised I hadn’t updated my profile - swapped mine on Mon, now have a 2020 V1K SE GT. Now updated! Now have the location of the connectors & will get sorted once my “over the clocks” sat nav mount arrives.

I was just reading another post about led lights and someone posted a link to a supplier of motorcycle connectors in US.
