PUIG SCREEN QUESTION
« on: March 14, 2017, 04:41:53 PM »
I have bought a Puig Touring screen, which looks great BUT whilst offering it up to fit it is obvious that the 4 holes in the screen (through which the rubber grommets and top hat spacers fit) are not large enough so the grommets and spacers will not fit

My bike is a 2017 model, the instructions claimed that original fittings can be used....they cannot

Has anyone else had this issue ?

BTW fitting these screens is one of the most frustrating and fiddly jobs on the bike  :157:

Mine fit fine using all the original fittings!  My bike is a 2015 model but I don't think they changed the fittings between then and now!  Sure Puig is the right model??  Gets easier with practice by the way!!

Interesting...design change on the 2017? The PUIG fits my 2016 very well. And as stated above, gets easier with practice as I've gone back and forth depending on weather/trip length.

Hope you get this sorted out.

Cheers guys, the problem is actually very simple, .........the 4 holes in the Puig are miles too small  for the rubber grommets and top hat washers that are used to attach the OEM screen.

I fitted a Givi Airflow to my previous Versys, so I can relate to what you are saying about the fitting procedure.

In other words its the screen at fault........

Seems that way - that's why I'm wondering if they sent you the right screen!  I have the same one and it was/is a perfect fit!

I agree, I've checked the part number on the screen packaging which as far as i can tell is correct.

I have messaged the supplier and am waiting for a reply

Thanks again for your help guys   :002:

I inherited a black Puig touring screen from my mate Andy. He didn't get on with it on his new 2016 Versys. It went on perfectly to my 2013 V1. Took a bit of getting used to but I love it. I am taller than him. I can only assume yours is an incorrect or mis-manufactured one Rog. Good luck with it :exclamation:

The supplier has replied and has asked me to provide pictures of the 2017 standard screen mountings so that they can re-engineer their screens

I've also checked on the Kawasaki  accessories website which shows a larger clear screen for the 2017 model which is not yet available which to me demonstrates that the screen has been modified

Exactly right Tyke, I have just returned my Puig screen (same issue ).  Kawasaki reengineered the OEM screen mounting and the after market screens that fit the 2015-16 models will not fit the 2017.  Hopefully v stream, puig, etal  will manufacture to accommodate the new mounting system soon.  I would like to have some wind protection in hundred plus mile rides.
