Wheel alignment setting
« on: July 02, 2017, 03:49:54 PM »
I have searched the topics but could not find an easy hit for my question, if it has been dealt with before I'm sorry.

I'm looking at the chain alignment on the swing arm and all though the marks seem to be on the same level when I measured  with a caliper it seems to be off about 2 mm.

I measured from the back of the swing arm to the centerline of the chain tensioner.

What can I trust (besides in God).

get a 12" metal ruler like from a square. put it on the rear sprocket and see to it the distance on the rear and front to the chain links are the same. lines on frames aren't always true.

I believe laser kits are available but may be costly

If you check You tube there may well be examples of home made kits to help you  :028:

The Romans relied on string and suitably constructed  pieces of wood to align their buildings during construction    :008:

I bought one of these too. cheap and simple. it told me my free way was working fine but because it rides on top it is easier.
on another note I have the dealer change out my tires. but I only let one guy a perfectionist do it. last time in the service??? manager gave it to another guy. he F"D everything up. I went back reamed him a new one and had the right guy do the balancing and chain right over again.
