Hey kotbaun,

Maybe I'm being dim here, but which connector under the seat do you mean? The GPI cable has 3 contacts in a female end, and I don't see any matching connector under the seat. But the one behind the dash does have a matching male end...

What am I missing?

I don't miss having to flip over to a reserve tank! Too many times, the engine started sputtering, and THAT was when I reached down and realized I'd forgotten to flip back to main tank when I last filled up, so I really was EMPTY...

It does state in the Ebay ad that the connector is under the seat :
(Note: plug and play, color of the wire should be consistent with the marking color of plug, original car plug located under the seat cushion)

But, I do not see a connector under there either. Hmmmm....

On the Mk I versions there is a square foam rubber block in the tray just to the rear of the negative battery terminal, if you have a close look you will see a plug pushed into the foam, that is the diagnostic connector.

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/824389/Kawasaki-Versys-1000.html?page=535#manual, 2nd photo, near the circled #10.

Simply plug in, when the ignition is turned on it should cycle through from 1 to 6.

It would seem that because there is a long cable it is meant to go in the diagnostic connector, not under the dash.

Huh. I certainly wasn't trying to be sarcastic. I'm genuinely confused - I don't see a diagnostic connector near the battery...

OK, now I see it!

Thanks to you and @wozzamatta for pointing me to it!

You gotta admit, that diagnostic cable isn't exactly obvious to find!

Thanks to y'all!

Found it!

Thanks so much for making it clear - I was looking to the front and side of the battery - it never occurred to me to look inside that little square foam block...

So can that diagnostic connector be used for anything else besides a GPI? The name implies that it can be used for 'diagnostics'... My old Triumph had an ODBII port - does this serve any sort of similar purpose?
