Bought one sight unseen
« on: September 30, 2017, 02:53:10 AM »
A '15 model with about 1600 miles. PO added nearly every Kawi accessory available except the driving lights.
It won't be home for a week yet and I can barely sleep. Just a little excited.

The sight-unseen part isn't really true if you consider I got dozens of high-res pictures that show a truly spotless bike.
But we all know it can still be a roll of the dice so wish me luck.

My last Kawasaki was a '89 Ninja 750 when it was nearly new. A bunch of Honda's of the sport and sport-touring variety between that and most recently, a 2003 Aprilia RST1000 "Futura." I still love that bike and will hate to see it go, but my aging bones need a little more "tour" and a little less "sport." Other than the Italian style and cool factor, I don't think I'll be giving up much of anything going to the Versys. Very similar in seat height, weight, power and torque. I'm sure power delivery will feel different from the V2 to the I4.

I'm already working up a mod/farkle list for a bike that already pretty well farkled:
Mirror extenders if needed
Aux. lighting
A quality throttle lock; Kaoko, Throttlemeister or Atlas (True CC too rich for my blood)
Slip-on muffler; Delkevic or Dale Walker/Holeshot

Anyway, that's enough of an intro for now.
Will post pics once I get it home.

Cheers guys!  :031:

Thanks for the welcome gentlemen!
Yeah, this looked to be a fun place with good people. I'm going to enjoy hanging out here and hopefully I can meet a few of you on the road at some point.

And TYKE/Rog, it's "Rich".  I went for Rich's V1K when I signed up, but the forum software wouldn't let me use the apostrophe.  :9:  Oh well, it does have a big smiley selection.  :biker3:

Welcome, Rich, from NE Texas.  Enjoy the bike and forum. :031:

You live in a beautiful place, up there in the lake country. A little nippy in the winter but worth it I'm sure...  :028:

I concur! I am a big, wide dude, and no other bike anywhere that I have ridden or sat on gave me a good view without my shoulders blocking half the mirror.... until the Versys 1000! No goofy aluminum block extenders needed, IMO.

I bought mine sight seen, but unridden (no test drives allowed / small local dealer). Sweet dreams! lol!
