My new toy.
« on: November 02, 2017, 09:07:37 AM »
Picked up my new bike a couple of days ago.

So far I have attended at the Land Transport Office twice to transfer the ownership into my name.  First visit cost 55 baht (less than US$2) which gets the bike transferred.  Second visit,   for recording of engine #, chassis # etc. and more shuffling of paper.  The lady at the desk said,  "Ooh,  big bike,  very expensive"  and with a few deft clicks upon her calculator she tells me 2280 baht (US$68).

The final visit will be on Monday when I have to hand in the Bangkok number plate and pick up a shiny new Chiang Mai plate.  I think there will be another fee for registration and insurance but this should total about 1500 baht (US$45).

Money well spent I think

Remember to change your flip flops for something more suitable before riding though  :002:

Yes, flip flops are not suitable for a bike over 650cc's. When you run with the big dogs you need more toe protection. Something like this!:  :2:

I try not to think about the millions of Asian riders who *do* wear flip-flops. But I'm sure Palex has some proper gear and hope he follows ATGATT.

An Update.

I received my Puig screen (with visor) a couple of days ago and fitted it yesterday.  Only took about half an hour,  even with my arthritic fingers.

Before.

After.

Excuse the poor quality images,  using my phone camera.  Really pleased with how it looks,  a definite improvement.
