SW-MOTECH Tankring Anti-Theft Device
« on: November 18, 2017, 05:03:40 PM »
I've been wondering about theft when it comes to the SW-Motech Quick-Lock tank bag. What do people do? Not worry about it? Take it with you? Put it in a top or side case?

Or use this item. SW-MOTECH Tankring Anti-Theft Device. Used to secure the EVO tankbag against theft. Fixes inside the bag. The security pin prevents releasing of the tankbag from the tank. $24.99 (CAD).

I have a Givi tank lock and if I'm going out of sight of the bike I take it with me using the shoulder strap. To use that locking pin you would have to lock the zipper as well which, for me, would defeat the purpose of why I have a tank bag which is to have to hand useful items. I would find it a pain to unlock the zippers each time, more of a pain than just taking it with me although my tank bag is only a small one.

In the UK, if you buy the Locking Pin the kit includes a small padlock (combination type, not key) for the zip on the tank bag.
I leave mine unlocked (pin out) until I know that I will be leaving the bike unattended, at which time I usually open it anyway to put a few items in, so it is no trouble to push the Locking Pin into place. When I return to the bike and remove stored items, I pull the pin out ready for refuelling when necessary.

I use an evo tank ring bag and just take it with me - saves the wife taking her handbag.. :008: :008:
