Rear 'muck' deflector
« on: January 28, 2018, 09:50:56 AM »
I am picking up my brand new Versys 1000 GT next week and was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy, in the UK,  a rear dirt deflector for my impending acquisition to stop all the road muck being sprayed up inside the rear wheel arch etc. I am particularly after the stand alone type that are fitted to the BMW GS's and Ducati's. As I am new to this Forum I did have a look on here but couldn't find anything suitable for sale in the UK. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.............. :002:

There have been a couple of attempts to deal with this issue, some good, some not so good

I "created" something to keep the shock and linage clean, it works very well

Many thanks Tyke & Bart. Me thinks more research needed.  :002:

I have the fender extender on my mark 2 2016 spec Versys and GTR 1400. There's been a change in the 2017 models and the number plate hanger has a different profile. I'd e mail Blue One who makes these extenders to see if it will fit. Looking at the rear end of the 2017 models (ok I'll wait for the comments   :192:) it doesn't look like they would be compatible. I know its recommended that you take the number plate hanger off and fix the extender off the bike but I've never bothered. Just remove the number plate and there's plenty of room to work. Also I use number plate nylon bolts and nuts to secure the extender so its easy to remove if you need to drop the wheel out. You've picked a great bike my friend, pity its not stealth Black and Grey  :001:

Hi cloudwalker, what fender extender are you referring to? :187:

Hi markymark11, I saw that one as well. I just thought it looked a little ugly. I much prefer the look of the all-in-one-piece mounded ones.

Sorry cloudwalker, I forgot to say, I do like the stealth black and grey colour scheme on the big V's but the trouble is they are not as fast as the green ones!  :mfr_lol:
