I'm leaning more towards the Givi 52 liter Trekker case, but am intrigued by the Shad 58x.  I think the width of the Trekker would be very useful, and the expandable bit of the 58x doesn't really matter to me.  Am I missing anything that makes one better than the other?

greenesand,

thanks to your posting, I ordered the 48 Commie last Saturday night from Amazon. It arrived via Prime on Friday morning and I had it mounted by that afternoon (it replaced a small suitcase-sized Pelican case that my son and I had fabricated for free). For my purposes, it should do everything I need. Though I always wanted the color-matched factory top case, I just couldn't make myself spend $500 for all the pieces. At $52 including shipping and taxes, it is way cheaper than a Shad or Givi as well. Not saying it is of equal quality - just saying it is good enough for what I want.
