Right now its not as hard except when i think about being single (oh yeah, 20 year wife left right before all this) and can't GO!
Sometimes I just want to ride and camp......
Death is never pretty and long slow death is as hard on the living as the dying.
Well, that turned into a bummer post!
I got back into riding after my father passed away in 2009. He had Alzheimers and i took care of him for his last 3 years. I worked a sales job from home so he was right with me all day long. So that was a huge help. But you're still under a lot of stress even on the good days....

These are the times of life that test your mettle and show what you're made of. I bailed from a successful musical career in Austin, in which I had invested 15 years, to come home to Dallas and see to my folks when they needed the support. Some people feel no obligation to disrupt their lives to help aging parents, and I don't judge them, but I had to do it or couldn't have lived with myself. As it turned out, we laid my father down in 1999 and mother not until 2015, so it took a lot longer than I thought it would. In the meantime I got old myself...
But I wouldn't have done anything different looking back. They went through hell raising us kids and we owed them.

It's never easy losing parents, but it's good that motorcycling is one form of therapy that helps us get through those difficult times
When my mom was in hospital having suffered a subarachnoid haemorrhage, I used to ride my bike down to see her and the fact that I turned up in my leathers always made her smile...........I remember that smile ............

It's amazing to me how many people out there are going through or have been through the parental care part of life.
Glad to know I'm not alone.....in that I get down time on two wheels, too!

My father raised me and my brother. He was always right there no matter what we were into. He was the one rock solid person in our lives. Theres no way i wasn't going to be there for him when he needed me...

My dad was also 84 and a vet. Korea and Vietnam. Full military funeral is one of the best things!
