My first new bike was a 69 BSA twin carb Lightning Rocket.  It was heavy, had lousy brakes, terrible electrics and vibrated like a paint mixer  --  and I LOVED it

Lovely bike  :034:

I thought I'd add a picture of the Gold Flash I owned with myself (on the Left) and Geoff 100 miles away posing alongside it in my 'Rev Shed'  like two old(er) gents  wistfully dreaming of bygone days    :008:

What a classic sled! Is it running? Do you ride it?  :37:

It was one of the casualties when I sold off my bikes Sonny,  but I did ride it and quite often, it was great for burbling around the lanes in the Lake District,  it had aftermarket pipes which were suitably loud so it was great hearing the sound echoing back from roadside walls.

I kinda miss it   :11:

I also owned a Velocette Venom at the same time which was stunning to look at but not good to live with.....I'll post a picture when I'm not on the tablet    :028:

Hah -- Velocettes were not exactly maintenance free, were, they?

You have owned a bunch of classics, Roger. None for me... but I love thumpers. I used to pine for the BSA 441 Victor, but it's probably best that never happened. I do still have my 2 Suzuki Savage 650 thumpers, but I don't ride them and they stay gummed up at the carburetor... it's also a bike that needs fiddling and TLC to keep on the road, but the engine is very nice... undersquare, strong, pulls like a spirited pony. I need to sell them now, but can't get motivated to see them go.
