59000 Km - need to replace the transmission chain
« on: December 08, 2018, 07:14:04 PM »
Hi all.

At what mileage did you chain your transmission chain?

Starting from two weeks ago I heard some minor sound and vibration coming from the left of the bike, between the foot peg and the rear wheel. It was like a toc-toc-toc ... only in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear and at low rpm - with higher gears and at medium-to-high speed, no sound and vibration any more.
The chain had 58500 km, still stock and lubed every 600 - 1000 km. The point is that I purchased the bike at 22000 Km and I do not know how well the chain was maintained.

So my Kawa dealer checked the chain slack, adjusted it and told me that I could still make a few thousands km, probably.

Yesterday I made other 300 Km, the noise increased in intensity and so I visited the dealer again. He tested the bike, checked the chain again and saw that this time really the chain was at the end of its life.
So I ordered a new transmission set, a REGINA one.

So, at what mileage did you replace your chain?

My bike is a 2013 model.

On my 2012 I change the chain around 58000 kms too! I'm 88000 kms now
The main point is invisible for the eyes
