Power cable routing for over the clocks gps mount
« on: May 16, 2019, 02:47:59 PM »
I am looking for a GPS mount and I am considering the SW Motech or Motowerks over the clock mount.
My question is where does the power cable feed through. I want a clean look without a cable running in the open.

I have just fitted the Kawasaki/motech mount. Ran it between side panel on left fed in just below tank. Pop off left hand coloured fairing panel. Release the panel fixings, on the bit where the aux socket is, an thread it up so it exits just to the left of screen mount. Then it is up and under mount.

There is just about 20mm visible running in the groove of the plastics, just to left of windscreen mount which isn't noticeable in use.

No doubt the clock mounting could be loosened off some more and bring the cable out directly underneath the mount but that may pinch on cable when reassembled.

I have the MotoWerk Mount and ran the cable behind the plastic where the windscreen mounts are. Can't even see the cable when the GPS is attached..

I've had no trouble at all running the cable through the opening between the meter house and the dash. Doesn't do any harm to the cable, at least not to the TomTom one. Other cables may be thicker.
