What do you do for luggage?
« on: June 14, 2019, 06:27:54 PM »
Just curious what others do.

I leave the top case on all the time, as it has the flat tire repair kit, first aid kit, clear visor and sometimes some tools. I have integrated LED brake lights, so it's worth having on even when it's mostly empty.

I also like how a top case mostly stays out of the air stream, resulting in better fuel economy and less buffeting at high speeds.

For day trips, I'll add my magnetic tank bag. For multi-day two-up trips, I either put the side cases on or strap a dry bag to the pillion seat.

At any rate, I realize I'm not getting a ton of use out of the expensive side bags!

The poll's active for 17 days; two weeks, plus a weekend.

Trunk with flat fixing accessories and smalls.   My wife would panic without the top case.
Side bags for trips and/or if rain is expected.

We're loving the bike so far, now hopefully I can get free of work and catch a decent weekend..

I have a V47 Givi that I pretty much leave on the bike all the time. Its too useful to remove plus I am often 2 up riding.

Ive only gone on a couple over-nighter trips (hoping to change that) but I use the side cases, top case with a waterproof duffel bag I hook on to the rack on top of the V47. I also have an XS308 tankbag and I just bought a pair of Lomo crash bar bags.

Unable to edit earlier post?   (this post allowed for an edit... )

Anyway.   Opted for a SHAD (SH45) product.  I like the fact you don't need the keys to do open and close the top box...or remove it.  Our old GIVI trunk required the keys for doing anything with the top case.

I replaced the stock bags with givi's. More room and easier to come off and on. Usually travel two up and she is a shopper. This pic is on the way to Road America this year. The top box is also a givi and the tack bag is a joe rocket, not sure of the model.

I also do a lot of long haul two up touring so have aftermarket cases, a Givi V56 top box and  Kappa K40 side cases. Tank bang is a Givi xs308 which takes another 21 litres - so altogether 157 litres of shopping :001:

Always top case. Side case when needed (for travelling or when I DIY outside home) and trailer when travelling with pillion or if I need to camp.
Tomorrow we start a 2 weeks travel in France in the Cevennes mountain.
The main point is invisible for the eyes
