Small world  Peter, Gus was a lovely and very talented guy  :169:    I seem to recall him rolling up a fag at Alston whilst waiting for me and Pricey to arrive

I didn't know Gus, but I remember Flookburgh. I raced there at the  first meeting.  :028: :028:

Great pictures  :028:

I know Flookburgh well as I lived in the Lakes for 20 years...I also remember the 'mile straight' where some good speeds could be achieved  :015:

I think the old airfield now mainly supports sky diving

Most of the circuit is now a golf course. The hairpin is still there but that's about it, the airfield is still in use. .  Gus and me got a lift back to the circuit one saturdy night From the hope and anchor pub in the village sat on the bonnet of a sports car with a young girl driving it. I seem to remember she had a boxer dog that kept pinching balls off the pool table. Cumbria Steam gathering is held on the airfield.

I visited the steam gathering annually for many years as i lived at High Newton for about 10 years, consequently I played darts for the local pub team  (The Crown), we played in the Grange league which included the Hope and Anchor, nicknamed the grope and *anker

I'm aware that we have wandered way off topic now

Just finished my Police Safe Ride course in Middlesbrough. Looking to take the test when the test ride examiner is free the month.

I highly recommend this course its free with the police (Durham) ride out day, then you sign up with IAM.

10 per ride out normally 10 rides with the IAM instructor (for his petrol) and when you pass the IAM Advanced course Durham Police refund you 100.

Win Win
