Wow.  Perhaps you hit some object lying on the road then that object got caught between wheel and fork, stopping your front wheel and launching the bike end over end.     When I was a kid I was once riding my 10-speed road bicycle whilst carrying a horse bridle and bit in my hand.  The bit swung into the spokes stopping my front wheel cold and both the bike and I promptly flipped upside down over the handlebars.  I still have a little scar on my hip from that one.

A couple of days ago I started to look for a used front rim on the net, but apparently there are none for the MY 2012 - 2014 (lots of used rims of Kawa Z750 for example, but none for the Versys).
My dealer will check whether the rim of MY 2015 --> 2018 fits the 2012 --> 2014, if so then the chance of finding a used suitable rim should increase significantly (very few bikes MY 2012 --> 2014 were sold).

Otherwise I can also play the card of having the rim checked and fixed by a company in Milan (called Scardino) specialized in repairing frames, rims and other stuff - obviously this is possible only when the damage is not too extended.

By the way, do you know website links in your countries where I could look for a used rim?

Thanks, Dommy.

When I dented the front rim of my '15 Versys in a pothole my dealer went by Scardino to fix it.
It was damaged as yours. 150 euros. Like new.

Yes, Your rim can be repaired. I just had one bend just like yours and had it repaired for about 175 Dollars. about 159 Euros in today exchange rate. Search out a wheel repair shop, even if it is for autos.
