Power outlet and compressor
on: February 08, 2020, 01:10:44 PM
Hi guys. I have a 12 volt compressor that says only use power rated at 10 amps. It comes with the 12volt that will plug into power socket. What's the rating for the power socket? Will it blow a fuse? Bike is a versys 1000 se.
Thanks

I too have a small 12v compressor and can tell you from experience it will blow the fuse straight away,i plug mine into the optimate lead which goes straight to the battery, have the bike running first then plug it in and turn it on and your good to go.

That power socket will do a phone or satnav,i wouldn't put anything more powerful than them into it.

I only use the outlet on the panel for light duty charging. For my compressor i have an SAE pigtail zip-tied to the trellis on the right side of my bike in the photo its the top item circled in red. The 2nd red circle is the jumper cable connecting unit. On the left side of the bike circled in red i have my C-Tek battery charger lead that i can hook a 12V outlet to if i want to use my compressor from that side

The owners manual states that the max current draw from the 12V socket on the dash is 3.3 Amps, or 43 Watts @ 13 volts (while running)

Yep, I like to be prepared for as much as possible. I got those goodies in 2010 and have just taken them from bike to bike. First on my 09 V-650 then on my FJR and now on the V-1000....

Hi Guys,

I am using the Michelin micro compressor and I am plugging it directly to the 12v power outlet without any issues.

Looks like it only draws 4 amps on a bad day, seems like a great option!
