Bike wonít start, help requested
on: May 22, 2020, 05:37:15 PM
So my V has been sitting for quite a while because of quarantine. I tried to go for a ride yesterday and it started up, then stalled before I pulled away from my parking space. Then it would not restart. I thought maybe the fuel was bad so I got a fuel additive to help with water degradation in the gas, and I bought a new battery while I was at it.

This is a video of what happens now (turn on audio):

Any ideas?

Typically fuel additive stops good fuel going off but wonít get water out of fuel once it has formed. Have you tried changing for fresh fuel? To me it sounds as though it is firing and then dying which suggests fuel not electrics.

Definitely sounds like a fuel starvation problem.  Drain all the fuel out and put new fuel in. I dont suppose anything has built a nest in the airbox.

I pumped out the old fuel, and put in half a tank of new fuel.  It took a while to get through the fuel that remained in the lines, but eventually it fired up and ran fine.  Iíll go for a good long ride tomorrow and see if it still seems fine.  So for now it looks like old gas was the problem.  Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it.
