Question for a welder
on: June 19, 2020, 11:34:55 AM
Can titanium be welded?

I found a pair of used (Sato) slipons for my new toy (slipons for MT01 are very rare and next to impossible to find) but one of them is cracked near the intake cone.
Can it be repaired? Does it take a P.H.D. welder or a good welder with standard experience could do it?

Thanks!

I already made that google search; thank you and, yes, titanium can be welded.
However, what I mostly need to know from an experienced welder is how easy it is to weld and if special equipment (currently available?) and special skills are needed.

In case some would like to know, yes, titanium can indeed be welded. I found a shop very close (less than one km) to where I live that I brang my part to. The welder that repaired it even said that ti is easier to weld than stainless. He made a very good job with a low invoice. I even picked-up the repaired part two hours later. Very happy!
