Finally got a test ride
on: July 02, 2020, 08:01:49 PM
Well i finally got a chance to ride a 1000 Versys today. It was a 2019 LT not a  SE .  I found myself pleasantly surprized . Found it silky smooth and very easy to ride . Power was ok ( i'm riding a 1260 multistrada ) Brakes are nothing to write home about maybe some braided lines and better pads would improve them . Wondering if the dash on the SE is any easier to read as the only thing i could read  on it was speed and gear posistion the fine print is for much younger eyes than mine . It was bright and sunny out maybe that contributed to that . It was 90 degrees out and engine heat was ok although i did feel some heat on my lower legs but not a deal breaker . Would like raise the bars on it a bit but don't know if there's enough cable/ harness .  Seems like a nice all round bike .
Love my multistrada but long term reliabilty is a bit of concern
Guess i have some pondering to do
Some days i'm amazing other days i leave my keys in the fridge

Motowerks bar risers are fine and don't stretch the cables etc,

The SE dash is light years ahead of it's more basic cousin

There's also lots more features on the SE GT version,  electronics suspension,  cruise control,  quick shift and more..you need to try one   :169:

Would be good if you get the chance to test the SE to compare. The Multistrada does have more power than the Versys. However, , IMO the Versys is more comfortable.
This is a bloody great Bike....!

Yep, that is exactly what it is.  Does everything well, nothing spectacular.

I can practically put myself over the handlebars with two fingers on the front brake lever on my '17 V1k so they must have recalibrated the input for the newer ones if you think they're weak ("nothing to write home about")

The SE would be a no brainer for me if I were buying a new one. If I couldn't afford the SE I'd shop for a low miles, garage kept used LT ...no point in paying the price for a brand new non-SE.
I used to do self deprecating humor, but I wasn't very good at it.

Coming off a 2018 1260 Multistrada with 330 mm bremboís and 75 less pounds yes the brakes are not what Iím use to . Never said they were crap just not impressive . I believe many have said the bike does nothing spectacular just all things well . Besides I bought one

Danny,
I've got to agree with Biscuit on the brakes.  The V1K brakes are good, the Ducati's are spectacular
