Versys 1000 Reg/Stator issue $$$ PLEASE HELP

Hey everyone,
I bought my 2012 Versys second hand 6 months ago from a "reputable" dealer. I absolutely love it and did over 10,000 kms on it through Winter and beginning of Spring here in Adelaide, SA
It has a lot of awesome mods but that's for another topic...
I noticed early on something was up with battery charging and asked Kawa to check charging system while doing my 48k service yesterday. jeez I have a feeling I know now why the previous owner sold the bike...
Regulator and Stator needs changing, for a total quote of ... $1.7K
OEM is sooo expensive
I'm just after anyone" two cents on aftermarket Stator and Reg?
Did a bit of browsing online and all I found is Rick's Motorsport, but it looks like they only do 650s
Cheers Guys!

$1100 just for the parts from Kawasaki Australia
Are you sure you need the rectifier? When my 650 died it only need the stator even though I got both I never used the rectifier.
You could try someone like this
https://www.whitesmoto.com.au/pages/rm-stator?gclid=CjwKCAjw5p_8BRBUEiwAPpJO69HzqjVm4h5Zn_JexO7atb00P1J9kInTqOoVaGGpmDOzrjVv-D0u6BoCAfoQAvD_BwE
even though there is no listing for the versys you could email and ask?

Just had a quick look and this company offer a stator rewind for £89. There may well be similar companies local to you.
It's about the 53rd item in the list

Ive always found Ricks Stators (USA) good and much cheaper than OEM (for Suzuki anyway) . I couldn't see a listing for the 2012 Versys though - just 2015 up.

The 2012 is a different part number to the 2015, not saying it won't fit, without trying it I don't know. Had a look at the Ricks site and couldn't see a V1K before 2019 at all.

Lots of stator/rectifier info and troubleshooting videos at roadstercycle.com .
I'm running a Shindengen SH847 Series type rectifier on my Shadow now. (Had to re-design the mount,,,) Best, most stable voltage I've ever had on a bike. Had the FH020 Mosfet type on it for 4 years. Also stable and better output than the stock one. Series type is reported to be better for the stator. May put the FH020 on the Versys, looks like it may be an easy fit. Or possibly see if the larger SH847 will fit and get a 2nd one or re-install the FH020 on the Shadow... Got all winter to think about it.
I fail to see how a Versys stator can cost 2x as much as a ZX10 stator,,, They are literally nothing more than 3 lengths of copper wire. All tied together at one end, wound into coils around a framework and ending at the 3 wire plug to the rectifier.

Thanks everyone for the tips!
I haven't got into it but I will send emails/phone some of the website you recommended. Whitesmoto, Ricks, BBBikeshop
I'll let you know how it goes for sure
Maverick: I was told when collecting my bike after its service both Reg/Rec and Stator were tested and failed by "a few voltage" (I may be wrong). Then they may recommend changing the Reg/Rec at the same time as a procedure to protect themselves. It could be what mechanics are told to advise customers. I don't know
Could the old reg/rec fail the new stator?
The hard part is to find specific parts to my 2012 model, and with electric parts you don't know until you try or speak to someone who had done it themselves. Kawasaki obviously doesn't vouch compatibility between models if the part ref is different.
I'm not sure how much longer it will work tho, I charged my battery just for peace of mind the other day. The day after went on a 200kms ride and the morning after while riding to work, my battery light came on, quickly followed by ABS light flashing. Last time it did that, the bike completely died on me and I had to push home haha
It seems like the battery is discharging a little quicker now...

........ and you are confident that the problem is in the charging system rather than the battery itself?
