2021 GT SE

Just been taking a look at the new 2021 Versys. I like the sound and spec of the GT SE with Skyhook. But £16,499...........

What's the mood about this.

I have never bought a bike on finance so my reaction is - looks nice and I look forward to owning one in about 5 years time

I paid £16K for my new 2019 Versys 1000, was it worth it ?  I  don't honestly think so

Sorry you feel that way.

How does it rank against the other V1K's you've had.

The 2019 bike was technically better than my previous 2017 bike, it had electronic suspension,  TFT instruments,  IMU Radial brakes, cornering lights, quick  shifter plus, plus, plus, but the 2019 bike was very expensive and in the final analysis  it was still a Versys.....a very good Versys, but still a Versys.

Don't get me wrong I don't regret buying it but for me it just wasn't that much better than my 2017 bike, it still took me from 'A' to 'B' and still put that smile on my face....the same smile.

If you were to ask me if my 2017 Versys  1000 was better than my 2013 Versys  1000 then I would say that it was dramatically better, I would add that I came off a GTR1400 when buying the 2013 Versys

As you may know I have a Mk1 and I'm thinking its about time I upgraded so its good to hear later versions are a great improvement. I didnt realise the 2019 was so expensive, I'll have to give myself a reality check, I paid £9K for mine in 2014, Thats a 180% increase in 6 years. I dont think McDonalds have gone by the same amount.

I was away from bikes for 30 years, but all that time buying cars taught me that buying nearly new is best. If you can get a dealer’s ex-demo model that’s a real plus, as you will know it’s been looked after properly.
My 2020 MY 1000 SE GT ex-demo was registered new by the dealer in February 2020. List price £16,299, I bought it in August 2020 with 75 miles on the clock (25 done by me on my test ride) for £13,500. OK, I wasn’t trading in, but looking around the internet there are some great deals out there.

I agree Rog  and this wont be a popular opinion but as much as I loved my Versys, its not  worth that much.... my current bike  (A 2018 S1000XR)  is twice the  bike the Vesys is and cost about the same new.
I really think they are pricing themselves out of the market here

I agree with not buying new. I think you got a great deal. Maybe there will be some good deals as they try to sell off 2020 stock.

Had three new 650 Versys GT and a 1000 V Strom before plunging into my 2019 SE. As much as i would have liked a new SE, just couldn't afford or justify cost.
Eventually got a year old SE of line, from over 400 miles away in Scotland, with 3 1/2 on the clock and 4 year Kawasaki warranty for just under 12 grand.
For that price, although highest I've paid out, can enjoy it and pay off difference on interest free credit card.
£16000 just seems a bridge too far and only be an option for a smaller percentage of riders. Be interesting to see what depreciation is and over what years.
