U.K. Parliament debate on motorcycling safety

I thought forum members might be interested in what U.K. MP’s are saying about motorcycling and safety in a recent parliamentary debate. I believe the debate started when it was decided to stop using steel cables along the central reservation as “safety barriers” between opposing carriageways. Barriers will be ‘Armco’ fence type barriers in future. Anyway, the debate was far ranging and shows that motorcycling has its supporters in Parliament, with an All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Motorcycling. My own MP., Steve Baker, regularly commutes on his KTM950 Supermoto. He vigorously defends motorcycling freedom, but even he wishes that loud after-market end cans were not used, as they cause public nuisance and give ammunition to anti-bikers. Anyway, this debate was recorded in Hansard, the U.K. parliaments’ public record of all debates in the House of Commons. I think it’s quite illuminating. Cheers.
