My 1981 GPz1100. Had one back in the day, but sadly sold it for college funds that were needed more. Reliving my youth, I found another that was owned by the original owner, and had sat neglected for years. Brought it back to life, and enjoyed it for a number years, but sold it in the spring of 2020. Gone, but not forgotten!

Never had an 'old' kawi but my brother had a late 70's kawi 1100 that was turbo'd.
I road it once, watching that big boost gauge kick-in I'd have to say was a little scary!  :goggle:

I could  post  some pictures  but don't want to bore other members who have seen them before    :180:

FWIW, there were no Kawi 1100 in the 70’s, at least, from the factory.
    First 1100 have been 1981 KZ1100A (shaft) and 1981 KZ1100B (Gpz).
    2017 Versys 1000     1983 KZ1000J3
    1982 KZ1000J2        1982 GPZ 1100
    1982 KZ1000J2 (yup, a second one)
    1983 KZ750L3         2017 Yamaha FZ07
    1983 KZ1000R (ELR)

You could purchase these at a Kawasaki dealer:

I run the risk of boring others, but I loved them all and always enjoyed others looking at them and recalling their youth  :169:

So apologies to those who have seen some of them and are bored looking at them, but here's some for you to (hopefully) enjoy

    Click the picture to expand

    ZRX 1200 R alongside my then 2019 Versys 1000

My 1980 TZ 250 with Phil Read onboard, closely watched by me, he was quick at disappearing into the distance   :008:

Part of the collection in my Rev Shed

    Kawasaki F6A

    Kawasaki F 7

    Kawasaki S3A (400cc)

Kawasaki Monoshock special build with 400 frame and 500 ported engine plus Ohlins (Suzuki) suspension and running gear   H1b 500 in background

Kawasaki KZ 400 (4 stroke) and a brand new N.O.S bike with 1 mile recorded

Bridgestone 350 GTO at Stafford Classic show ..... look closely and you can just see my mates N.O.S Kawasaki H2B in the background  :028:

    Suzuki GT 750 (Kettle/Water Buffalo)

A Kawasaki KDX 500 (well modified and well used...great fun)

    Kawasaki H1b 500cc

Kawasaki H2C .....a truly beautiful bike, but not the most enjoyable to ride...(which was the S3A)

There are others including some british bikes

    Enjoy

Guess your right about that, he must have had it bored out as I remember him saying 1100.
He started modifying it when the later year bikes started to be as fast or faster than it was, without a turbo!   :5:
