need help with code 62

Bit of a long story so i'm going to try to keep this brief. 2016 versys 1000
I brought my bike into my school (i teach metals) and installed a power outlet for charging a phone. I wired directly to the battery. I had a student asking how the sound of the exhaust was because they are only used to hearing harley's in my area. So i started the bike, idled it for 10 seconds or so and gave it a couple twists of the wrist and shut the bike back down. About 10 minutes later i started it and drove it outside to put it away and thats when my check engine light came on. I learned how to get the code and its code 62. Most thing's ive been reading say to drive the bike for 3-5 rides around 30 minutes long and the ECU will clear. Since then I have driven it 18 miles each way to and from work for 6 days and 1 time just out for a shorter 30 minute ride with my wife. I have gone through a full tank of gas since the light came on. I still have code 62 as of this morning's ride in. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? The bike rides fine but the flashing lights bug me. The nearest dealership is over an hour drive.
Back story.
My step dad bought this bike brand new in 2016. I know he did some mods to it but i'm still not all sure of what. Added bar risers, corbin seat, someone said based on a picture that the kickstand is different. Anyways, he died back in november and I inherited this bike. So i'm still learning all about it. Its a great bike but i probably would never have bought it myself.

62FI/KTRCSubthrottle valve actuator malfunction.
Might need to call in at a dealer. I've had faults pop up on my 2015 model and it's taken a fair few more then 3 rides to clear it.

First I'd revisit the procedure... to ensure all the conditions are fulfilled.

Well, technically we don't have true CAN Bus, so should be no time to let everything go to sleep.... how about to be safe, 5 minutes or longer.

I was also thinking the same when I got the message on my 2017 (that it wouldn't work), but it does work. However, you must follow the steps one by one in this precise order.
Each time one step is completed, the ECU wait for the next one. If the next one (and all the other ones) are met, in the right order, during your day to day commuting, the message will go off during your commuting. It is longer though but it works that way too.
When it is said to stop the engine, no need to wait; you can restart the engine right away and reach the next step.
