    Downsizing

Some of you may have noticed that in a previous posting  I mentioned that I plan to change my BMW R 1250 GS,

I have, for some time,  been managing health  conditions,  the requirement  from which is that I  need a smaller lighter and more manageable bike.

So what should I  do ?   Well I  have researched the possibilities/options open to me, I narrowed it down to Triumph Tiger Sport 850, VStrom 650 or Versys  650, there were other possibilities  within my list

I took advice from owners of my option bikes.... I  have made a decision and I  have chosen  a Versys  650 in Green ( obviously)   :celebrate:

It's a 2022 MY  bike with latest updates and will be mine this September.

The bike will be more than adequate  for my needs these days and I'm quite excited  about the newcomer arriving in my RevShed...I will post some pictures later

    Congratulations

BUT, make sure those pipes are sparkling before you show it to Geoff, as otherwise you will hear the loud sucking of teeth as he recoils at the dull state of them 🤔🥴😳😅😂

Richard, it's a well proven  fact that Geoffs pipes are a thing of beauty to behold.....I'll try but am not confident that I could reach his level   :008:

When the time comes for me to downsize (and I'm hoping that's still a year or two off yet) I will make the same choice. Perhaps a 70th birthday present?  :notsure:

    Enjoy! :757:

My Versys 650, will arrive with me in September  so I'm not yet able to provide a comparison

I have had 3 Versys 1000s since 2013. They are a 4cyl in line configuration which is completely different to the GS that I  still own, the GS is a horizontally opposed twin. The Versys 1000, is an amazing bike but its just not a GS !  :5:

My reason for downsizing is because my R 1250 GS has simply become too difficult for me to comfortably  handle nowadays

I would commend the R 1250 GS to anybody who wants a 'proper' Adventure  bike, IMHO it is an absolutely  stunning motorcycle,  I'm  so glad that I have owned and enjoyed riding it. The V1000 is nonetheless a stonking all rounder bike, and very reliable

Thanks I'm on my third Versys having owned the MK1, MK2 and currently have a MK3 SE GT. Whilst I'm very happy with the Versys I have always hankered after a GS but the price has always put me off. Your reply may make my decision easier if I ever decide to abandon ship lol.
    Cheers Hugh

Recommendation of another make of bike on any forum is a potentially hazardous thing to do  :5:   :4:

At the risk of stating the obvious I suggest you try a GS, they aren't everyones idea of motorcycling nirvana, and you may not like it.

Like I said I really am  so chuffed that I have owned and enjoyed one, to me it's the dogs bollocks of a bike, I'll miss it when its gone    :006:
