FYI, in his "Downsizing" thread (link below), Tyke mentionned his new V650 as about the same ergonomics than his previous V1000. Maybe you could give V650 a look if you're keeping the V1000 only for its ergos.

Yes, I have considered this, but according to the official Kwak website, the 650 weighs 217kg and the 1000 weighs 257kg, so there is only a 15% weight difference between the two. I realise that that's not the whole story, but I would expect the C of G to be about the same.

    A Honda CB500X is under 200kg  :notsure:

The CB500X is top of my list for when I have to downsize. I've had demo rides on a couple of them. They're the only Honda that have ever made me smile.

Nathan Millward ... Going Postal ...book
For those curious of what it is like to tour from Sidney Australia  to  London England  on a Honda CT 110.
Something of an adventure I would say , the best i could do when just a lad was 225 miles return on a Yamaha 125 twin .
I wonder what a major trip would be like on a small bike  200cc and down ..you would certainly see more and the experience would be an adventure.

Boring boring video of a man who clearly doesn't like big bikes, and is trying to put people off by boring them to death with a load of waffle. One thing he is right about though, thge so-called top end tourers, the BMW's, Honda, even Triumph now are insanely expensive. I mean even the Versys comes in many flavours for every pocket, i won't pay the 18k for a top of the range Versys either, not when the base model does the same thing, at that's how i see it.

But that chap in the vid is really boring, did i mention that?
