Just a question for the GB folks. How long / far, via bike is it to ride to Munich from say London? Are you allowed to ride thru the "Chunnel" tunnel? Staying off of Freeways.

Avoiding the motorways, Google Maps suggests London to Munich is 722 miles and the travel time is about 20 hours, going via the Tunnel. You travel through it on a train designed to transport all kinds of vehicles, although lorries go on separate ones. You stand by your bike or sit in your car for the short trip.

Where do they get the names for these colours?

Thanks for the info about the tunnel. Is it expensive to take the tunnel route or better to do a ferry.

The tunnel process is a lot quicker and travel time. 30 mins on the train, loading unloading pretty quick too.. However, it is more expensive than the ferry.

The ferry is cheaper and takes longer 1h 30 . However,  for a long journey the ferry can be used as a long break for rest an refreshments.

France is 1 hour ahead so you lose an hour going to France, and gain a hour going to he UK.

I usually go out on the tunnel and back on the ferry ..but the prices of the tunnel have gone up to such an extent that i am now useing the ferry more often than not .it can be £60 plus to use the tunnel against the ferry one way .
