1. From a local rider: 'you must get gas at every opportunity in this country. I don't care if you just need a gallon. I've seen many a friend run out because they thought that they had enough. Sometimes stations are closed because uncle bob died, or some other emergency.'

2. From a local rider: 'the road from Sumpter to Ukiah used to be epic, but they tore it up last year ---- DO NOT TRAVEL ON THIS ROAD [Emphasis added]'

Must Ride Roads - From a local rider:

395 from Mt. Vernon, to Pendelton

245 from Unity to Hwy 7 - 'what we call Dooley Mountain Raceway'

19 from just west of Dayville heading west to Fossil - 'is a road created for motorcycle riders, mostly deep canyon along the John Day River'

In Fossil, head west on 218 to Shaniko - 'my personal favorite/personal racetrack as the corners are high banked and fast'

 Baker Truck Corral and Restaurant, just across the highway from Motel 6 in Baker City, has good grub and friendly service.

 +1 to keeping your tank topped up.
