    2013 Versys side bags

I recently purchased a 2013 Versys 1000.  These seem to be rare in Canada.  I am having a very difficult time sourcing side bags for this year of the 1000.  Is it possible to get the factory bags?  I did find a Shad system at FC Moto but thats about all, and the Shad dealers in North America don't support this bike.  Any help appreciated

Welcome aboard  :031:  We didn't get the Versys 1K in the States until 2015, so we can't help.

Worth contacting Givi directly. Firstly I believe Givi make the Kawasaki "OEM" panniers (which they wont/cant sell you direct) but their website is not the best and confusing, and  I've found the support team helpful. Ideal to try and get a Givi mount kit for your bike as that then gives you options for what sort of Pannier you want / like. If you're lucky a mount kit for a later version bike may only have minor differences and adaptable for yours if they don't make one specifically. Best of luck. Tom.

Also Kappa.  I'm sure they made panniers and rails for that year.

I believe Kappa and Givi are owned by the same family ...

I just purchased a 2013 in November also and am in Regina so kinda a small town too. Where are you from? Mine is a Grand Tourer so came with the Givi side bags and top box color matched which is orange. My other bike is a Suzuki M109R which hasn't changed much since 2006 and there is an abundance of aftermarket parts and even ECUs etc are interchangeable from all years. It's a big transition figuring out what works from year to year with the Versys. Canada got the bike in 2013 and is basically a European/Asia model according to the ECU numbers I've found and there are 2 different ones. One for all but France which has a different ECU# most likely for emission regulations.  As for luggage,  GIVI, SWMotech don't list the mounting brackets. I buy most of my parts from Fortnine.ca and even they don't list the Versys 1000 properly. I ordered a SWMotech skid plate from them but had to cross reference the part number from SWMotech site. I've also scoured the Kawasaki parts sites to figure out what years parts will work for the 2013. When looking at purchasing the T-Rex crash bars for the luggage, they list 2015 up and going through Kawasaki parts sites the main frames for 2013/2015 are the same but the lower tail supports are different so they won't fit ours without modifications.

Regina is a pretty big town compared to Tiny Ontario.  I'm just outside of Midland. Lot's of very interesting riding and no superslab in sight.

IF this proves challenging or expensive , there are some great soft bags available out there as well as tail packs .Check out Fortnine , in the past i used some Nelson Rigg brand saddle bags and tailpack , i found them easy to install and take off and waterproof ,capacity was equal if not more to the hard panniers that came with my 2015 V1 especially when using the extended zip out feature they provided , one benefit aswell is they are durable hard to scratch and easy to clean .  I used them on three other motorcycles and sold them to a friend when I got the V1.

Hepco-Becker fits.  Motomachines just outside Washington DC was great to deal with.
