    Replacement fuel tank

    Hi there,

I am rebuilding my 2015 verys (klz1000B) after e severe sliding last year. All is done now except a replacement fuel tank.

Sometimes one passes by on ebay, mostly dented and scratched.

to increase the success rate of my search I am wondering if a 2019 tank (klz1000C) will also fit on an klz1000b.

    Does anybody know the answer?

    Thanks!

    Richard

    Hi, don't know if you have already checked but they have different part nos and cost significantly different amounts. I used the following site for comparison;

    https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/en/kawasaki-parts/2015-versys-1000-motorcycles/fuel-tank

That said the two diagrams for a 2015 and 2019 fuel tank look pretty similar and a lot of the fittings have the same part numbers so you may be able to swap parts over if necessary

They do look extremely similar. Maybe the different part numbers are simply because they are different colours, rather than anything structural?  :notsure:

i would presume that its the colour that gives it a different part number.

    Very likely

When I was in the motor trade, part numbers were often "superseded"  as a result of the same part being manufactured by a different supplier.

The part No is 51001-0816-660 for 2015 to 2018

51001-0816 is the model / version for that tank
    and
660 - is the No for that colour (Black)

However on the 2019 onwards the part nos for the tanks are

    51090-537-725Y   - White

    51090-537-962J      - Orange

    2020

    51091-509-751P         - Green

    2021

    51092-503-6J15         - BLACK+GRY

    51092-503-6J12        - BLACK+GREEN

    ............etc

Whilst the connection and main mounting points may be the same, the 2019 onwards tanks may be of a different shape to fit the new fairings and the ride by wire throttle bodies  :027:

EDIT - Also remember that the seat shape is different on the later models so seat to tank mating serface could be different

I will wait it out for awhile and will ride with the dented tank

Season has started so an advice to me was to wait for more supply since accidents will keep happening.

money has run out also, to get the bike back on his feet costed me already 3000 euro's..  :015:

It would no doubt have cost a lot more had the repairs been done by a dealer

Money well spent I'd say  :001:
