I have a 2019 V1k SE that I bought new with a two year factory warranty. Because of the electronics and a special price, I bought a 4 year extended warranty. Expires 2025. I now have 21000 miles on the bike and only had to replace the Fork seals. (Colorado Roads Suck)  I was able to get Kawasaki to pay for the replacement seals and labor via the extended warranty. They did not want to but lets just say I was very persuasive. Don't think they will do it again if need be.  Remember, the warranties are nothing more than piece of mind and are only as good as the dealer / manufacture are willing to back them.  Mechanically the bike does not break, Electronics are always a crapshoot.

That's true, there are several dealer I enquired about warranty and one seems to lean towards blanketing everything (you touch electronics, you void warranty) and other is a bit more practical.
Yeah I agree mechanically I have doubts everything will be alright but electronically... It's more tech, more complicated, and more error codes.

I don't know where to get the service manual in either case it would be useful

I believe kawasaki are giving a 4 year warranty as a sweetener to get you to buy a versys and some other bikes aswell, but it will only be for a limited period, bit like they sometimes offer a free luggage upgrade.

At the moment it's both on the V1K

If any bike has a serious fault with either the clutch, engine or gearbox then it will almost always show its face within the first three to four months, so it’s never worthwhile to extend or pay for extra warranty, take the used bike every time and save thousands,if anything serious goes wrong with a Kawasaki, especially the versys which is known for being bomb proof, then sadly, it tends to be rider abuse, hammering the bike when cold, and rough gear changing up and down the box,you have to respect the bike and treat it accordingly, another thing  that you mustn’t forget is that right now in the present economic climate, interest rates are forever rising, which means the cost of borrowing is rising and of course the cost of finance is rising, so basically when you add it all together, it means that the less you borrow the better,so take a used bike,it costs less, which means you borrow less, which means that you are paying out less every moth, ride it carefully with respect and have faith in the brand, if you do all that then I can assure you that the bike wont let you down  :38:
I don’t need google as my wife knows everything

I've utilised a very similar policy when buying cars....new ones are expensive and depreciate immediately plus VAT is instantly lost....so I usually buy a lower mileage ex demo (if possible)...that way the car is usually well specified and good VFM

Buying a bike can revolve around the same policy     :169:

After much debate I took the extended warranty on my old 1400GTR.  Pleased I did.

New rear shock assembly (£950) after the adjuster seized and new rocker box gasket to cure an oil leak (£200 est.)

I've got to decide within a month whether to extend the warranty on my Versys 🤔

Not sure about ex-demos. It is a tempting alternative however when I was testing 1000 I wasnt too gentle. My changing gears was all over the place and I did rev above 4k RPM. And I am not a boy racer, I am sure others did a lot worse than that. And the bike had like 100 miles on it. So basically worried about how thrashed it could be in the engine department.

Impossible to get a test ride on a new Japanese MC where I live, but the Euro dealer will allow them only if you follow the salesman, so those demos are in great shape
