Utopia creating a driver's backrest for us!

    Utopia products - https://utpr.com/

Is going to use my seat to fabricate a driver's backrest for the V-1000. (I'm using "driver" on purpose to signify rider and not passenger)

They have one for the 650 but have not done one for the 1000, which they found strange since this bike has been around for awhile now!

I had their driver's backrest on my triump trophy and loved it.

They're giving me a deal on shipping in return for the inconvenience of being without the seat for about a week. They need the seat to fabricate the mounting hardware. Normally they send you the kit and you install yourself.

The backrests are adjustable up, down, forward and back.

Here is a pic of the backrest on the V-650...

    I'll keep you posted...

If you are leaning back on the backrest, do you need to stretch to reach the bars?

The riding position in the trophy is similar to our bikes. On that one I used the backrest adjusted forward some, so it was just supporting my lower back a bit. Helped me lots especially on long highest trips.

Yeah, it's definately another thing to climb over...

I always stand up on the low side peg and swing over.

I never understood back rests for the type of bikes the Versys is...seems to only be comfortable on cruisers where your legs are stretched out in front of you and you naturally lean back...not the neutral or slightly forward position on the Versys.

There are times on the Interstate when traffic is very light when I will lock the throttle and lean back just using body weight to steer.  Not the safest way to ride, but sometimes my back needs it.

On my goldwing the Utopia backrest folds forward so it is even with the height of the passenger portion of the seat no problems swinging leg over at all.
