I have been trying to find a good lube for the side stand pivot, as that seems to be more the culprit than the "just enough" spring on my 2016. The V1 pivot point seems floppy, at least compared to my VFR, and I don't think that helps the matter.

Thanks for the suggestion, I haven't tried that one yet. I tried a dry Teflon lube but it didn't have the staying power I hoped for.

It seems there could be some inconsistancies in the quality of the springs used here. Although there shouldn't be but stranger things have happened. I have a 2015 and the spring has always had very good tension. My Son in Law just bought a 2019 and I was shocked to see how weak the spring is on his bike. It won't hold the stand up to it's stop. Both bikes use the double spring. So go figure. A new or stronger spring will be needed and yes keep the hinge well lubed.

I actually thought it was a bit weak myself and I think I have heard it bouncing and making a noise over a rough surface now I think about it.

Yep I can confirm the springs are pretty weak. did a big ride over the weekend and it was bang a lot on the roads we were on. Struggling to understand how that fails.
