Wiring for pulling trailer and for 12v outlet

I pulled a trailer with my second Moto, a Honda ST1100, and wish to do so with my 2018 Versys 1000. I'm planning on purchasing the hitch system from Third Wheel Trailers in Ontario. Does anyone have any experience with the wiring required for the trailer? I am assuming I need a 5 point wiring set up. I will be getting the work done by my mechanic, who isn't a Kawi dealer, but perhaps for this it is better to go with someone familiar with the bike.

As well I want to have installed a 12v cigarette style outlet on the dash. I have read conflicting stories. It is a straight plug and play or will I need some sort of relay as well?

Any suggestion with suppliers would also be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

I do have a Third wheel trailer and I really like it. Like you said, you need a 5 wire cable. I bought one in a car trailer hardware specialized store but pretty sure you can also find something similar at Canadian Tire. I also bought the corresponding water tight female connector to replace the one coming on the trailer.
The 5 power sources you need (parking, brake, LH turn signal, RH turn signal and ground) can all be found near the taillight so that's where I started my wiring.
I can send you some pics from my bike if it can help. But my trailer is hanging for winter storing in my un heated garage so picture of it will be pretty hard to do...
I ordered my trailer with the "LED everywhere" option for a minimal electrical load on the Versys.
Be patient when ordering and order well in advance. The owner (Juan) is a pretty nice person but always late in his delivery...

Oh and there's a spot on the dashboard for a 12V plug. Can send pic if you want.
I always use a relay in my setups but I don't think it is mandatory there if you only use low wattage accessories.

Thanks Claude. I expected that the trailer wiring would originate from near the dashboard and not the tail light. I was concerned with how the wire would be fished to the rear of the motorcycle.

Also, when adding the 12V plug, did you purchase the Versys specific unit from Kawasaki or did you use a more budget friendly alternative?

Start from the motorcycle's rear end; much easier. I believe the trailer's LED option I choose help about the current draw of the motorcycle's relatively small wires.
I used a 12V plug I already had at home. Not fund of expensive OEM options particularly when they have nothing more to offer than generic parts.

I think if you want to fit the kawasaki 12volt socket it's cheaper to buy one for the kawasaki cruiser ( can't remember the model), it's exactly the same as the versys one.
