True Rog, there seems to be more and more impaired drivers about, not just vision but skill (or lack of it).

This is exactly how I feel when looking for buttons on my left switchgear.
I'm practicing recognizing the shape of the buttons also during the day just to train myself a bit, but always wondering why should I be doing so...

Same here, but sometimes defining those drivers 'impaired' it's just about using a nice word... I would say it much worse...

All I ever feel I need to change in the night is the high and low beam and use the blinkers. Focusing to much on looking for potholes, wildlife and making sure others see me.

I hear you, but in my experience that's not all.

While travelling long distances even in the night and winter time I also need to access the trip computer (looking at fuel range is a must), sometimes cruise control, often heated grips...
Of course I'm not playing with riding modes if not absolutely needed.

    Hi all,
this is my first post here in the forum, so please forgive me for any miss on this topic (I tried to search for similar posts with no results).

Here's the issue: whilst I'm really enjoying my brand new Versys 1000 on most of her aspects, I have to admit I'm getting more and more upset by the lack backlit controls on the handlebar.
I'm often driving in the night and I'm really struggling to find where buttons are, especially with winter gloves.

Any experience here on this? Does anyone know any solution for this?

    Hello partners.
Well here you have the solution.
Open the light control and place three high intensity LEDs inside (it was not necessary that they were high intensity) with three resistors and connect it inside the same control where we find a positive and a negative under lock and key.
Some photos and some video to show it.

I am surprised by how many high end bikes don't have back-lit controls. Seems easy to do compared to a lot of the tech they put on nowadays.

    Very nice job.
Is the light disturbing while driving or is it of the right intensity?

I totally agree with you, this is the reason or opening the posting and see if I'm the only one complaining on it.
