I've used them on a Yamaha XT250 .
They were fine though fairly expensive for what they are .
Would work well on the Versys

Hi all!
Has anybody tried Double take mirrors on V?
Any issues? Maybe there some better aftermarket mirrors?

The only time I had a slight problem with a key was whilst on holiday in Cornwall in 2013 on our GTR 1400....we got a spare cut in the local Timpson shop    :169:

 As Vern says

Put the key in the lock then mark where the lock stops with either tape or a marker pen on the key. Then take the key to a key shop and get the guy to cut a shorter key up to where you've marked it. That way the key will be shorter and not prone to snapping. Obviously it won't work in the ignition.

I just re-pinned the lock on my top box to match the new bike, turns out that while the ignition is a six wafer lock the panniers are only five pin, while the key goes full depth into the keyway only the first 5 cuts on the key from the grip end of the key actually engage the wafers

Turns out the gas cap and underseat lock are also 5 wafer but counting from the tip of the key, the key doesn't actually enter fully into the keyway

This means the key is far less strong when operating these two locks

I think you could cut a KW16 to operate the panniers with one side and the tank/seat with the other by offseting that side with the cuts from the tip end of the key

I'll grab a couple blanks and give it a try

KHI could add a variety of better quality components to their products....the price would then be inflated

In some ways its more fun adding such items yourself retrospectively   :001:

Fully agree that I enjoy moding my bike to suit myself but while the guy how installed it for me was impressed with the quality of the Nitron gear (he races ASBK and really knows his stuff) Kaw could probably install something similar for an added $500 and make far more sales

I hear you, but in my experience that's not all.

While travelling long distances even in the night and winter time I also need to access the trip computer (looking at fuel range is a must), sometimes cruise control, often heated grips...
Of course I'm not playing with riding modes if not absolutely needed.

It seems there could be some inconsistancies in the quality of the springs used here. Although there shouldn't be but stranger things have happened. I have a 2015 and the spring has always had very good tension. My Son in Law just bought a 2019 and I was shocked to see how weak the spring is on his bike. It won't hold the stand up to it's stop. Both bikes use the double spring. So go figure. A new or stronger spring will be needed and yes keep the hinge well lubed.
