Versys 1000 - General Chat / Re: Looking for feedback on Sena 20S vs Cardo PackTalk Edge« Last post by Rockdoc on Yesterday at 08:50:17 am »I've never had a Sena and we went from the Cardo G9 to the Packtalk Bold a few years ago. Unsurprisingly, the improvement was very marked. The sound quality is better - the speakers are quite large - and it's clearer when we talk. The GPS and phone both link to the unit, rather that the phone piggy-backing onto the GPS. The GPS takes priority so I can't hear Ruth when it's giving me directions but it returns to 'normal' quicker than the G9 did. I haven't used it with outside audio often but it works fine and has always paused and restored the link afterwards.
The only issue we had was with the new speakers. They are a larger diameter and thicker than those with our G9 and pressed on our ears more. Our old lids didn't have recesses but our current ones do and that fixed the issue. I know this isn't quite what you asked for but thought my experience of the Packtalk series might help. Keith 6

I currently have a Sena 20S that has done well for both my wife and myself for a number of years. We're considering upgrading to the Cardo PackTalk Edge but we're unsure if difference between them is worth the $850 cost to move to it. So I'm interested in hearing anyone's opinion that has used both whether the upgrade is worth it or not. What we're really looking for is the clearest pillion to rider communication in windy environments. The mesh is not a concern as its been a long time since we've done group rides, and none of our friends that ride have any sort of communications system. As a note, we used to have a Cardo G4 and both the pins and the waterproof cover wore out with use. That was already a big jump for us when we went to the 20S, and we've been happy enough with it, we would love it if we could get another drop in wind noise from the microphone. Also, when we travel my unit is connected to both the Garmin Zumo and my phone. I'm assuming that the Cardo PackTalk will work the same, but I'm still trying to find that out so if anyone has experience with how well that works with the cardo I would be interested in knowing. Often with the Sena 20S after the GPS directions comes through, it leaves the phone music paused. 7

General Maintenance, Servicing, and Mechanical issues / Re: Solution to needing to burp oil filter on oil and filter change ?« Last post by jcarlson93 on February 04, 2023, 12:06:31 am »I have a 2015 V1K with about 23,000 mi on it, and have changed the oil three times, once when I bought it at 16k miles, once at around 20k miles, and at the end of this season with a little more than 23.5k miles. All three times I have ran the bike til warm, drained the oil from the oil pan until it was barely dripping, then took the old oil filter off and let that drip too, refitted a new crush washer and torque the drain plug, and then clean the filter mating surface on the bike and using new oil lubricate the oil filter gasket and then torque on as well. I do not put a single drop into the oil filter, and fill the bike with the 3.8l as called for in the manual. I then wheel the bike outside, put it on the side stand and start it in neutral and watch as the oil pressure light goes off about 3-5 seconds after starting. Then I let it run for about a minute or two, let it cool and the oil drain back to the pan, and check the level and usually add a few extra mL to top off to the top of the sight glass. Never have had to burp.

Seem to work ok its a case of you get what you pay for ..

Quality seems pretty good as it's just a glass-pak. Nothing special to them. The cat does most of the quieting. I had to use an extension on the mount otherwise it would hit the hard-bag when on. The stainless mid-pipe was $30. So $70 bucks is WAY cheaper than that one. I wouldn't use that "DB-killer" as it's smaller that the stock outlet.  |
